How do I use an NDIS plan for speech therapy?

Use the therapy funding in your child's Capacity Building budget to book speech pathology that supports their plan goals. How you book depends on whether your plan is self-managed, plan-managed, or NDIA-managed.

First, check that your plan includes Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living funding and that speech pathology relates to your child's goals. Your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm this.

If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed, you can generally choose any suitable speech pathologist and have invoices paid from your plan. If it is NDIA-managed, you use a registered provider. The clinic will set up a service agreement that records what is being delivered and the rate.

Keep some funding aside for assessment and report writing, which are claimed the same way as sessions. A clinic can map this out with you before therapy starts.
